One of the many missions of Amarillo’s Thomas E. Creek Veterans Hospital is to identify and aid homeless veterans. Amarillo’s Purple Heart Chapter 553 lends support to this VA mission by donating to both the Thomas E. Creek Veterans Hospital’s Housing First program and the Hospital’s clothing room.
The Thomas E. Creek Veterans Hospital also operates a rest home known as the Community Living Center (CLC). The primary mission of the Community Living Center is to restore each Veteran to his or her highest level of well-being. Other missions of the CLC is to prevent declines in health and to provide comfort at the end of life for CLC residents. Amarillo’s Purple Heart Chapter 553 supports the Community Living Center’s missions by contributing funds to be used to expand the recreational pursuits of the veterans residing in the CLC.
